Wow, Fifty Years Since Graduation From THS! You are looking at the pictures of a man that has really been blessed beyond measure by God. Recently I have been thinking back over my life and I am humbled by my life’s experiences. My life in the business world, places that I have traveled on mission trips and other events of my life give me a perspective that is beyond what I could ever have hoped for. After high school I started attending DeKalb College and continued to date my HS sweetheart, Wylene Hutchison. I graduated from there with associate degrees in Electrical Technology and in Business Marketing. Wylene and I married shortly after I finished at DeKalb. That same year, 1964, I was hired by a new company in the Atlanta area called Western Electric. Also during this time, the Viet Nam war had escalated and required massive numbers of men. This was the pre-lottery era and I received my draft notice the day after we found out Wylene was pregnant with our first child, a daughter, who was born in 1967. I was drafted in 1966 and spent one year here in the US and one in Viet Nam at a lovely little place called Quin Nam. I was honorably discharged from the Army in 1968. I spent one year in Viet Nam and never got a scratch, but did manage to come home with a Bronze Star. I returned home in 1968, returned to my engineering job at Western Electric, and settled into being a dad and husband. Our second daughter was born in 1970. In 1971 I decided to go back to college to enhance my work career. After attending night school for quite a while, I graduated from Mercer University with a BBA degree. This allowed me to move from engineering to sales within Western Electric. I finished my work career (forced into retirement) with Western Electric (later renamed Lucent Technologies) in 2001 after 37 years of service. After this, I immediately started to build our dream home on 40 acres of land in Barrow Co. near the Chateau Elan area where we live to this day. I enjoyed the building experience so much that I formed a construction company, Precision Home Services, and started building residential homes. This lasted until 2008 when the bottom fell out of the home building business, which actually enhanced my work in Christian Missions. I will be honest with you, I was not much of a Christian Witness In High School. This is probably no big surprise to most of you because it’s the truth. I did marry a wonderful Christian girl and together we have been pursuing Him and helping each other be accountable. Together we have been able to travel to many foreign lands sharing the gospel, helping the sick, encouraging people, and doing construction after times of natural disasters. As I like to think, the best is yet to come. God bless you guys and may you find that peace and joy that only comes from a relationship with Christ.
